WHAT ARE YOU HUNTING FOR?

I was at a New Year’s Eve party December 1978. At midnight someone said kiss your girlfriend. Then they said stop, make a New Years resolution first. I’ve never made one before or after. I think they’re stupid. Fat people make resolutions to lose weight and the next day eat a whole pie. But something hit me. I want to know that next New Years night my life is right with God.

I don’t know what had happened but I was way off. I’d go to Church and start sweating and nearly run out. By March I said I’m going to take a weeks’ vacation. If it’s possible to know God like the guys in the Bible then that’s what I want. If it’s not possible, then why’d You even write the Bible?

In a few days met up with a cool Christian brother named Terry Boedecker at his ski cabin in Ruidoso New Mexico. I told him the deal. He said I’m a Christian and if there’s anything I like to do it’s help other people know God. We’ll throw the skis in the corner and pray.

I told God I didn’t want to be like Bob & Susie with a white picket fence and a 2-yr. old and go to Church on Sunday. I wanted a relationship with a real God. You know, a God that blows fire down from heaven and blows up stuff. I can’t tell you what all happened. I’ve just never been the same since.
